Build strong foundations for teaching Irish. Reflect on your current practice and explore how classroom culture, routines and planning can support confidence and increase pupil participation.

Module 2: Struchtúr an Cheachta

Develop a clear and structured approach to teaching Irish. Learn how to design lessons that integrate oral language, reading and writing while supporting progression and meaningful communication.

Module 3: Cluichí

Discover how to use cluichí with purpose. Learn how to adapt games to reinforce vocabulary, support sentence-building and increase real pupil talk in a structured way.

Module 4: Acmhainní

Create a practical and sustainable bank of resources. Develop adaptable materials, templates and supports that reduce preparation time while increasing engagement.

Module 5: An Ghaeilge i Rith an Lae

You will learn practical strategies, cluichí and clear lesson frameworks to support engaging and communicative Irish teaching. The course focuses on creating meaningful opportunities for Irish both within lessons and across the school day, while building confidence, increasing pupil participation and developing sustainable classroom approaches.

When does the course start?

The course will run from Monday 13th July 2026 to 5pm on Friday 14th August 2026, with full flexibility to complete the course at your own pace. By pre-signing up, you will gain early access as soon as the course is ready, along with a special early bird offer. How is the course structured?

The course is structured across five clear and progressive modules, each focusing on a key aspect of effective Irish teaching. Participants will engage with a combination of recorded input, practical tasks and structured reflection designed to support real classroom application.

Each module includes a short input session, guided activities and a required assignment linked to the learning outcomes. Participants will also engage in discussion forums to reflect on their practice and share ideas with others.

 The course is designed to be completed over 20 hours, combining online learning with self-directed tasks that can be applied directly to your own classroom context. Progression through the course is structured, with each module building on the previous one to support clarity, confidence and sustained improvement in teaching Irish.

How much time do I need to spend on this course?

The course requires a total of 20 hours of engagement, including 10 hours of mandatory online learning and an additional 10 hours of flexible learning activities, completed either online or offline.

What needs to be done to complete a module?

To complete a module, you simply work through the recorded content, complete the tasks and submit the short assignment. You’ll also contribute to the discussion forum by posting two comments, each of at least 100 words, before progressing to the next module.

Why am I unable to progress to the next module?

This usually happens if all requirements for the previous module have not been fully completed, especially posting the two required contributions in the discussion forum.

Is this course EPV approved?

This course is approved by the Department of Education and qualifies for EPV days.

1. Course Access & Dates

● The course will commence on Monday, 13th July 2026.
● All course requirements must be completed by 5:00pm on Friday, 14th August 2026.
● Access to course materials is limited to the duration of the course unless otherwise stated.

2. Participation Requirements

● This is a 20-hour EPV-approved course.
● Participants must:

○ Complete all 5 modules
○ Engage in a minimum of 10 hours online learning
○ Complete a further 10 hours of professional learning (online or offline)
○ Submit all required assignments ○ Participate in module discussion forums (including at least two written contributions of 100+ words each per module)

● Progression to the next module is dependent on completing all required elements of the previous module.

3. Assessment & Completion

● All assignments must meet the stated learning outcomes.
● If required, participants may be asked to revise and resubmit work.
● A Certificate of Attendance will only be issued upon:
○ Full completion of all modules
○ Satisfactory submission of all assignments
○ Verified engagement across the 20 hours

4. Engagement & Academic Integrity

● All work submitted must be your own.
● Participants must not:
○ Share accounts or allow others to complete the course on their behalf
○ Copy or reproduce work from other participants or external sources
● If using AI tools, this must be clearly acknowledged and used to support (not replace) your own work. Failure to meet these standards may result in non-certification.

5. Refunds & Cancellation

● Due to the nature of digital course access, refunds are not guaranteed once access has been granted.
● If you are unable to complete the course within the specified timeframe, transfer or deferral is not guaranteed and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
